Overview
Missouri Baptist Medical Center, an acute care hospital in St. Louis County, offers a full continuum of medical and surgical services. The Respiratory Team provides treatment and therapy for infants and adults, performs procedures such as mechanical and noninvasive ventilation, nitric oxide delivery, arterial blood gas sampling, and pulmonary function testing. Roles may include PRN, night shift, and a 3 shifts/6 week period schedule.

Role Purpose
Provides direct patient care activities related to respiratory care including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation within the hospital and department guidelines. Applies advanced clinical respiratory expertise and serves as a resource to the patient care team, ensuring patient safety in developmentally appropriate care while adhering to quality and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
Effectively communicates by documenting, handing off, and collaborating with the healthcare team.
Provides education and training on respiratory therapy treatments and procedures to patients, families, students, new employees, and healthcare team members, utilizing diverse learning styles.
Approaches work with accountability, seeks continuous learning, and prioritizes multiple duties with effective time management.
Performs diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory procedures according to standards, procedures, guidelines and policies; assesses, analyzes and troubleshoots as needed.
Demonstrates advanced clinical and critical care skills to support additional responsibilities (e.g., ECMO, ventilator support, bronchoscopies, sleep lab, labor and delivery, cardiopulmonary and circulatory rehabilitation, BLS) as needed.
Minimum Requirements
Education: Associate or CoARC Accredited Program; Respiratory Therapy
Experience: No Experience
Supervisor Experience: No Experience
Licenses & Certifications: Basic Cardiovascular Life Support, Respiratory Care Practitioner, RRT
Preferred Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's Degree
