
Lead - Food Service Worker

Overview
Barnes-Jewish Hospital at Washington University Medical Center is the largest hospital in Missouri and is ranked as one of the nation's top hospitals by U.S. News & World Report. The Department of Food and Nutrition serves patient, retail and catering needs across both campuses. This role supports the hospital’s mission of providing excellent customer service and nutritious care.
Key responsibilities include coordinating staff, ensuring quality control, and managing food safety compliance.
Role Purpose
Responsible for coordinating all activities within the assigned area including scheduling, training and direction of staff, conducting inspections to evaluate adherence to quality control standards, HACCP procedures, food code regulations and FSMA guidelines as determined by the Manager. Manages cash control, security procedures, and oversees the department as a whole, including patient and cafeteria service, commissary, hot/cold food production, storeroom, inventory, drivers, or sanitation.
Responsibilities
Assists department management in coordinating and achieving department goals.
Monitors employee performance and schedules, trains employees and builds an effective work unit.
Provides education and ensures work unit follows proper job duty protocol, safety and sanitation guidelines.
Works various positions where needed to ensure quality and timely delivery of service.
Works with the Quality Assurance Manager to ensure completion of food safety measures and sanitation assignments.
Minimum Requirements
Education:
High School Diploma or GED.
Experience:
2-5 years.
Supervisor Experience:
No Experience.
Preferred Requirements
5-10 years of experience.
