Mental Health Technician – FT Nights – 36 hrs/week – 7:00 PM–7:30 AM – every other weekend

Position Summary
The Mental Health Technician performs routine patient care duties under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, including assisting with admissions, discharges and transfers; monitoring patients for verbal and non‑verbal cues of potential aggression and using de‑escalation interventions; reporting sensory‑perceptual changes; monitoring safety and preventing harm; and supporting activities of daily living in a therapeutic environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

Follow instructions from nursing leadership and hospital policies and procedures.

Report patient medical problems and any alterations in sensory‑perceptual images (illusions, delusions, hallucinations) to the Registered Nurse.

Monitor safety issues and take action when indicated to prevent patient harm.

Provide care that considers safety, rights, comfort, and a therapeutic environment.

Assist with admissions, discharges, and transfers in a timely manner and complete appropriate documentation.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.

Preferred: minimum of two years of college in psychology, social work, mental health, or related fields.

Experience in working with emotionally disturbed patients preferred.

Good standing employment record for consideration in internal transfers.
