
CNC Swiss Setup Operator - Night Shift

Description
OGS Machining is a CNC Job Shop that is currently looking for a full-time CNC Swiss Setup/Operator position for Night Shift. Standard shop hours are (4) ten-hour days – Mon-Thurs. 3:30PM – 2:00am, with occasional overtime on Fridays as needed. OGS Machining is a medium-volume, production job shop whose average machining order is 100 - 500 pcs. 75% of our jobs are made from bar stock with the remaining 25% are machining castings or billet. All parts can easily be held in your hand, no cranes or material handling equipment are necessary. The majority of our CNC turning equipment is less than 4 years old, and state-of-the-art.
Job Summary
Primarily responsible for setup and operation of CNC Swiss-type Lathe Machines. We are currently running Star CNC Swiss-type Automatic Lathe machines. We are seeking a machinist with at least 5 years’ experience of working unaided on setting up and operating CNC Swiss Lathe machines.
Essential Functions
Setup CNC Swiss-type (Fanuc control) lathes for production turning
Document new program changes and processes to ensure setups can be duplicated
Oversee the quality of parts produced in the machining cell
Share expertise and knowledge throughout the Swiss department
Perform daily and weekly maintenance programs on machine shop equipment
Setup machines on a flexible basis to ensure optimum output throughout the shop
Effectively communicate any issues or problems encountered to day shift personnel.
Perform other duties as assigned
Competencies
Must have a good understanding of CNC Swiss Lathe machining work and tool offsets
Capable of identifying critical blueprint dimensions and inspecting these critical dimensions
Ability to work on a wide variety of complex parts from drawings
Must have basic computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Windows
Must have basic understanding of ISO 9001 and quality principles
Must be dependable and detailed oriented
Required Education And Experience
At least 5 years’ experience of working unaided on setting up CNC Swiss Lathe machines in a job shop environment
5+ years of Machine Shop experience
High School Diploma
