Job Overview
Position: Mechanical Checker

Location: Colorado Springs, CO (Hybrid). Office: 1225 Aeroplaza Dr, AEROPLAZA.

Citizenship: U.S. citizenship required. Security clearance: None required.

Responsibilities

Prepare required records for the release of design data and documentation into the company’s data and documentation control systems.

Provide design database and documentation checking responsibilities for revisions to existing designs and drawings.

Under limited supervision and direction, perform complex technical tasks that require knowledge of engineering techniques and design theory to evaluate mechanical designs. Review engineering models and drawings received from mechanical and/or electrical engineering and other technical support personnel for compliance with internal and external industry standards.

Apply manufacturing, tolerancing, and producibility capabilities during the check process to ensure cost‑effective design.

Perform reviews and updates of check prints to meet company policy requirements.

Coordinate with engineering, designers, or detailers for clarifications of requested changes.

Verify proper application of specifications for materials, finishes, processes, connectors, or other mechanical components during the check process.

Apply company, industry, and contractual standards while reviewing hardware design and documentation data.

Complete the preparation of necessary technical documentation for the release of hardware design.

Enter data into the company documentation control system.

Utilize advanced knowledge of CAD and data‑management tools to complete checking tasks.

Assist the CAD tool support team with testing and debugging of software tools.

Help develop new design/documentation techniques and procedures based on current government or commercial publications.

Validate change definition artifacts for revisions to existing design and drawings.

Validate revision capture definition into formal design and documentation data in accordance with defined change requirements.

Provide design database and documentation checking for new design and drawing releases.

Qualifications You Must Have

AA/AS degree (or other 2‑year post‑high‑school training) with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.

Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government‑issued security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer

Experience performing a checking role (mechanical systems preferred).

Experience using 3D CAD design tools such as SolidWorks and/or NX.

Experience with PDF editing (Canvas or Adobe).

Experience using a PDM (Enovia).

Experience with GD&T dimensioning.

Knowledge of ASME specifications.

Experience working on government/military programs.

Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.

Proactive problem‑solving skills when complete information is not available.

Self‑motivated and able to work independently while collaborating with team members across different departments.

Strong attention to detail.
