Minimum Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required.

Active pursuit of a Bachelor’s in Nursing or Allied Health degree required and must be attained within 3 years of date of hire or transfer.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills and leadership skills required.

Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at time of hire; incumbents will be trained and must achieve proficiency within 30-60 days from date of hire.

Minimum 3 years of clinical experience.

Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey.

Basic Life Support (BLS) required.

National certification in specialty (e.g., ACLS, PALS, ENPC, ATCN) preferred.

Ability to understand color distinctions as required by certain departments.

Position Summary
The Clinical Supervisor ensures expert nursing care delivery by providing staff education, evidence-based clinical practice, and leadership. The role directs staff daily activities to ensure care adherence to departmental policies and procedures, assists the Clinical Manager with patient flow operations, customer service recoveries, supply stocking, scheduling and assignments, and serves as an alternative for payroll duties. The Supervisor also establishes communication with physicians and other professionals to coordinate patient care plans and supports organizational goals through quality customer service, performance improvement initiatives, teamwork, and cooperation.

Qualifications

License: Current Registered Nurse license in New Jersey.

Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing; active pursuit of Bachelor’s in Nursing or Allied Health degree required.

Experience: Minimum 3 years of clinical experience, including exposure to emergency department settings.

Certifications: BLS required; preferred certifications include ACLS, PALS, ENPC, and ATCN.

Skills: Strong verbal and written communication, leadership, proficiency in Clinical Applications, and ability to handle physical demands such as stooping, kneeling, and lifting up to 50 lbs.

Performance Expectations
Demonstrates the ability to perform department-specific competencies as listed on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.

Work Environment
Potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens and infectious diseases. Physical demands include stooping, kneeling, crouching, pushing heavy equipment, and extensive standing and walking. Lifting requirements include lifting 25-50 lbs. frequently and lifting 50-10 lbs. with assistance occasionally. Certain departments may require color discrimination.

Population Served
The Clinical Emergency Department Supervisor triages, assesses, and treats patients of all ages presenting with emergencies across all body systems, including but not limited to coronary, pulmonary, neurological, skeletal muscular, gastrointestinal/metabolic, genitourinary/renal, gynecological, and integumentary conditions.

Reporting Relationship
The position reports to Department Leadership and may supervise incumbents as assigned.
