RN / Registered Nurse – Vascular Access Team
Our team is searching for a dynamic Registered Nurse to join the interdisciplinary Vascular Access Team. The Registered Clinical Nurse (RN) plays a fundamental role in delivering world‑class health care. The RN assumes direct and indirect responsibility for the patient’s care environment, collaborating with health‑care team members and autonomously applying the nursing process. The RN also provides leadership, mentoring, and role modeling for other members of the health‑care team.
Responsibilities
As a Vascular Access Specialist, the RN is responsible for the following:
Assess patients with difficult access for appropriate VAD device
Round on units to identify patients who may need a mid‑to‑long‑term VAD
Troubleshoot complications of VAD or assist staff in troubleshooting
Place difficult peripheral catheters or assist staff as a resource in declotting
Provide resource education to staff on VAD
Provide patient teaching regarding PICC line care and maintenance
Educate staff on VAD care and management
Consult physicians on VAD and provide physician education
Monitor all vascular access device outcomes and participate in QA assessment tools
Maintain knowledge and competency through seminars, journals, and other education related to infusion therapy
Reporting
Reports to: Nurse Manager
Supervises
Supervises: Nurse Extern, Graduate/Licensed Practical Nurse, Nursing Technician/Specialty Technician, Unit Secretary, Patient Care Assistant
Required Education
Associate’s in Nursing
Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
Required Experience
No previous experience required
Preferred: 2–5 years as RN
Required Certification / License
Current license to practice as an RN in Florida
Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification from an accredited instructor of the American Heart Association (AHA) and/or other specialized life‑support requirements as designated by the work area
