Technical Asst II - Nursing
Shift: Nights; 7p-7a with weekend rotations. Job Code: NU2301. Classification: Non-Exempt.

Job Summary
Provides patient care services, cleans, maintains and stocks supplies and equipment, and applies principles of standard precautions and infection control in various settings. Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide services appropriate for assigned population. Receives assignments delegated by RN. Certified Technical Assistant can access patient data, report information to identify patient needs. Provides care based on established policies and procedures. Performs clerical, phlebotomy, safety attendant and other duties as assigned within scope.

Responsibilities

Provides and documents assistance to patients under the direction and supervision of a licensed nurse.

Assists in patient care throughout the entire patient experience under supervision.

Assists in room turnaround, cleaning equipment, supplies, and environment.

Organizes supplies and equipment as needed.

Assists with patient care while complying with department, hospital, and regulatory policies and procedures.

Understands concepts of sterile and non-sterile techniques.

Adheres to safety measures.

Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or GED required.

Experience: 1 year of experience preferred; previous healthcare experience preferred.

Licensure: Current CNA, Phlebotomy, or CMA/CCMA/RMA certification with state required.

Additional Skills/Requirements Required: Basic computer knowledge with demonstrated administrative skills. Basic knowledge of medical terminology. Demonstrated critical thinking skills. High level of compassion, desire to help others and highly motivated.

Additional Skills/Requirements Preferred: Phlebotomy and medical terminology.

Physical Demands
Medium to Heavy physical demand: requires constant standing, frequent walking, bending/stooping. Proficient communicative, auditory, visual skills. Attention to detail and ability to write legibly. Ability to lift/push/pull 100 lbs. Use safe handling equipment for weight over 35 lbs.

Other

May require use of safety equipment such as HEPA mask for infection prevention.

On-call responsibilities as directed.

Ability to travel between campus buildings, remote facilities, and out-of-town as needed.
