Lead Hospitalist Physician

Indiana Full-Time

BAS Healthcare is assisting with the recruitment of a Lead Hospitalist Physician to join and help oversee an established hospital medicine program in Indiana. This role offers a combination of clinical practice and leadership responsibility, ideal for a hospitalist seeking professional growth while maintaining a predictable schedule and strong work life balance. Lebanon, IN is just 30 minutes away from the city of Indianapolis

Opportunity Highlights

Clinical Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive inpatient care to adult patients

  • Manage admissions, daily rounding on medical/surgical units and CCU, and discharges

    -Help run codes on the unit with support of in-house intensivist and emergency room physicians.

  • Coordinate care with specialists, nursing staff, and care management teams

  • Support patient-centered care initiatives and efficient throughput
    -You would be overseeing 5 hospitalists.
    -There is 24-hour APP coverage
    -No night requirement for this role, but weekend coverage would be needed.

Leadership Responsibilities
  • Serve as the clinical lead for the hospitalist team

  • Provide day-to-day operational oversight and clinical support

  • Assist with onboarding and mentoring of new providers

  • Participate in quality improvement, utilization management, and patient safety initiatives

  • Collaborate with hospital leadership, nursing, and medical staff committees

  • Support implementation of clinical protocols, policies, and best practices

Candidate Qualifications
  • MD or DO

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine

  • Eligible for or licensed to practice in Indiana

  • Prior hospitalist experience required

  • Leadership experience strongly preferred

  • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills
