Locum Tenens Obstetrics/Gynecology Physician Opportunity Near Fresno, CA

We are seeking a dedicated Obstetrics/Gynecology Physician for a locum tenens position near Fresno, CA. This opportunity is available starting November 11, 2024, and ongoing, with both scheduled and on-call coverage required.

Position Overview:

• Position: Obstetrics/Gynecology Physician
• Location: Near Fresno, CA
• Start Date: November 11, 2024
• Dates: ASAP - Ongoing
• Shift Type: 24-Hour Shifts
• Shift Description: Day, Swing, Night
• Schedule: 12 shifts of 24 hours each, with 1 day off between shifts
• Call Requirements: 24-hour call with primary in-house coverage and backup call requirements

Job Details:

• Unit: Obstetrics
• Beds: 140
• Patient Age Group: Adults
• Procedures:
  • C/Sections
  • Operative Vaginal Deliveries
  • D&C
  • Laparotomy/Laparoscopy for emergency Gynecological surgery
• Average Patient Volume:
  • Deliveries: 3-5 per day
  • Triages: 15 per day
  • ER/Medicine Unit Consults: 1-2 per day
• Annual Deliveries: Approximately 200 per month, 50 per week
• Average GYN Surgeries: 2 per week

Support and Backup:

• Coverage Model: In-house with a second OB MD in the community as backup for each shift
• Specialties Available:
  • Medicine Hospitalists (24/7)
  • Intensivist Service (Daytime)
  • Limited Interventional Radiology
• Code and Rapid Response: Managed by the Code and Rapid Response team

Requirements:

• Board Certifications: Board Certified/Eligible in Obstetrics/Gynecology
• State License: California (Active license required to proceed)
• Certifications:
  • BLS
  • ACLS
• EMR System: Cerner
• Vaccinations:
  • Influenza (within the last 12 months)
  • MMR
  • Varicella
  • HepB
  • Tdap
  • QuantiFERON (if past positive, a current chest X-ray is required)

Additional Information:

• Privileging Timeframe: Approximately 90 days from application submission
• Orientation/Training: Provided by the Medical Staff, including badge, EHR access, and cafeteria passes
• Expedited Privileges: Not available, but temporary privileges are allowed during the credentials meeting
