Physician, MD, DO

Physician Responsibilities

Ensure compliance with OSHA, Privacy Act, DoD, and USMEPCOM standards.
Perform comprehensive medical record reviews, histories, and physical examinations per DoD standards.
Interpret laboratory results, diagnostic test results, and coordinate with consultants and Service waiver authorities.
Conduct detailed in‑person medical histories for pre‑screened applicants and evaluate injuries, deformities, defects, and disorders across all body systems.
Administer a standardized orthopedic‑neurological examination.
Determine the need for additional physical examinations and coordinate further testing.
Inform applicants of abnormal findings through personal consultation or written communication.
Provide updates to medical staff for accurate record entry into the USMEPCOM database.
Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Eligibility is contingent upon a completed background investigation and a suitable fitness determination.
Position is designated as non‑sensitive and requires a personnel security investigation.
Maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) training and certification endorsed by the American Heart Association.
Advanced Life Support or other advanced certifications do not supersede BLS completion.
Fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain appropriate clinical privileges.
One‑year supervisory probationary period may be required.
Complete Military Health System (MHS) GENESIS training within 30 days of onboarding or as required.
Shift work before 0600 or after 1800 hours, and occasional Saturdays, may be required.
Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, or equivalent from an accredited U.S. or Canadian institution.
Maintain a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician in a U.S. state, D.C., Puerto Rico, or U.S. territory.
Have at least one year of supervised clinical experience (internship or residency) following graduation.
Possess a minimum of three years of graduate training in the specialty of the position or equivalent experience and training.
Foreign education must be assessed by a private evaluating organization and deemed equivalent to accredited U.S. programs, or full credit must be granted by a U.S. accredited institution.
Pass the pre‑employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal.
