Job Details
HVAC Chiller Service Technician to perform maintenance, repairs, modifications, and troubleshooting of primarily centrifugal, screw, reciprocating, and scroll, air-cooled and water-cooled chillers, refrigeration equipment, boilers (water/steam), and unitary HVAC equipment.
Responsibilities
Perform routine and preventative maintenance on chiller and boiler units’ electrical and mechanical components.
Support equipment such as chillers, compressors, purge units, cooling towers, pumps/motors, valves, boilers, and unitary equipment.
Maintain excellent record keeping, including refrigeration and operation logs.
Work with components, refrigeration units, supporting equipment, meters, relays, sensors, analog devices, VFDs, switches, controllers, gauges, thermostats and other similar devices.
Perform major repairs on chillers and boilers, including following all EPA guidelines for refrigerant recovery, replacing O-rings, gaskets, seals, bearings, sleeve Babbitt, thrust/counterthrust, and roller bearings.
Perform boiler inspections and plant maintenance teardowns per current CT code guidelines.
Work on cooling tower gearboxes, drive couplings, intermediate shafts, fan blade pitches, and centrifugal pumps.
Work with equipment brands such as Trane, Carrier, York, Daikin, Smardt, McQuay (centrifugal, reciprocating, and screw chillers), Cleaver Brooks, Hurst, Lochinvar, Fulton, HB Smith, and Patterson Kelly.
Utilize CFC and HCFC refrigerant recovery equipment, maintain records, and perform all service and maintenance repairs in accordance with current EPA regulations.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent. Any D1, S1, or S2 licensure is ideal.
Post-secondary vocational or technical school diploma in HVAC or Refrigeration from an accredited institution required, or a recognized apprenticeship program (including service, operation, and teardown).
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working on commercial units.
Must have a clean driving record.
Boiler and steam experience a plus.
EPA Certified.
