Job Summary
The Land Development Division provides technical review and oversight of land development applications, manages performance and erosion and sediment control bonds, maintains land development records, and provides professional guidance to other County agencies while delivering exemplary customer service.

Responsibilities

Reviews land development applications and ensures compliance with County regulations through written correspondence with applicants.

Provides technical expertise to the Department of Building and Development, other County Departments, and outside agencies.

Delivers accurate and timely information to the public.

Analyzes problems effectively and navigates the intricate land development process.

Produces clear written and verbal communications and works collaboratively in a dynamic team environment.

Utilizes an intermediate level of computer and Microsoft Office skills due to the County’s new online land management system.

Maintains thorough knowledge of County operations, policies and procedures, as well as County, State and Federal land use regulations.

Applies principles, practices and methodologies of the planning profession to support decision‑making.

Participates in occasional meetings after business hours with members of the public and/or elected officials as required.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Planning, Urban Studies, Zoning, Historic Preservation, Business or Public Administration; or equivalent education and experience.

Basic GIS experience is desirable.

Job Contingencies & Special Requirements

Must undergo criminal, credit, and DMV background checks.

A valid driver’s license and good driving record are required.

Annual reviews of driving records may be conducted to ensure ongoing qualification.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary commensurate with experience.

Eligible for a $6,000 hiring bonus in accordance with the County’s Hiring and Retention Bonus Program.
