Continuous Improvement Coordinator

Position Purpose
This position is responsible for driving continuous improvement in all the plant’s core processes (Production, Materials, Engineering, Maintenance, and Quality Assurance) by leading, training, and coaching teams in the application of Manufacturing Excellence tools, such as Six‑sigma and Lean Manufacturing, as well as other Continuous Improvement methodologies.

Essential Functions

Serve as facility expert, trainer, coach, and leader in the effective application of lean manufacturing /six‑sigma tools such as Value Stream Mapping, Line Operations Balancing, Kaizen, Poke‑Yoke, Process Capability, SMED, Kanban, etc.

Provide detailed, fact‑based recommendations of potential projects that will deliver the most positive and lasting impact to the operation based on overall facility performance, strategy, financial, and AOP requirements. Direct management staff in selecting the final projects to be included in AOP.

Ensure the project plans effectively drive the overall success of the projects.

Champion individual projects from CER through to shop floor implementation ensuring that the projects capture financial improvements that translate to bottom‑line impact.

Provide subject‑matter expertise in identifying key talent and building teams for each project.

Lead teams in the creation of a clear charter for each project with quantifiable and measurable metrics for success. Hold teams accountable to those metrics.

Lead, train, and coach the team in the use of the relevant manufacturing excellence improvement tools to drive the project toward achieving the documented goals.

Work closely with the core management group to ensure successful transition, implementation, and long‑term sustainability of the improvements.

Work with new product/process division, plant, cross‑location, and cross‑divisional launch teams to improve the effectiveness of the AQP process, implementing lean/six‑sigma tools such that the changes drive positive momentum in plant and division metrics.

Validate capacity requirements based on marketing forecasts.

Work directly with all process owners to drive the facility key metrics/scorecards in a positive direction.

Education and Training

BS/BA degree preferred.

Six‑sigma certification desired.

Certification through the change leader program or equivalent preferred.

Minimum Qualifications

8 years of dedicated continuous improvement practical experience, or 5 years of manufacturing experience with a bachelor's degree in a technical field, preferred.

Demonstrated leadership experience either through direct supervision or by coordinating and facilitating successful operational improvement teams.

Proven experience utilizing lean manufacturing techniques and principles.

Highly developed interpersonal skills to effectively interact with all employees.

Extensive project management experience is required.
