Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare, describe, and dissect surgical pathology specimens with accuracy.
- Perform postmortem examinations under the direct supervision of a qualified pathologist.
- Ensure proper collection, labeling, and documentation of specimens, maintaining the highest standards of care.
- Collaborate closely with laboratory staff, utilizing HIS and LIS systems, along with appropriate laboratory instrumentation.
- Exercise independent judgment in planning and organizing daily tasks, ensuring smooth workflow.
- Adapt readily to emergency situations, including working additional hours or shifts as needed.
- Maintain alertness and efficiency during extended periods of work, often under stress.
- Comply with hospital and laboratory policies to support organizational goals.
Required Skills:
- Valid and current ACT (Pathologists' Assistant) ASCP certification; equivalent certifications are not accepted.
- Strong knowledge of hospital information systems (HIS), laboratory information systems (LIS), and laboratory instrumentation.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently with initiative and good judgment.
- Flexibility to handle emergency situations and adjust work schedules accordingly.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work under pressure.
Nice to Have Skills:
- Previous experience in a hospital or clinical laboratory environment.
- Familiarity with specimen processing and handling procedures.
- Experience with laboratory software and digital pathology systems.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in laboratory science, biology, or related field.
- Prior experience as a Pathology Assistant or similar role in a healthcare setting.
Other Requirements:
- Certification as a Pathologists' Assistant (ASCP) is mandatory; no exceptions.
- Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be considered; include current address in your profile.
- Availability for scheduled shifts starting 12/29/2025.
- Able to work efficiently for extended periods, under stress, and in emergency situations.
- No more than 5 days of requested time off during the assignment; all requests must be noted at profile upload.
- Weekly hours and pay rate: $71.02/hour.
- Flexibility to work day shifts in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
