Description
JOB SUMMARY: To supervise Outlet operation, including supervision of staff, scheduling, stock rotation, cash handling and product sales, controlling both store resources and human resources to meet budget goals.
Responsibilities
Supervise and perform cash register operations, including responsibility for all monies received and making daily bank deposits; ensure protection of these assets from internal or external losses.
Oversee product flow into and out of the Outlet, ensuring a constant supply of fresh product, with unsold product going to salvage or disposal.
Ensure proper store staffing during hours of operation.
Maintain store housekeeping, safety and security; report needed repairs/problems/hazards immediately.
Supervise staff, including selection, promotion, demotion, discipline/termination, training (including safety), performance appraisal and salary change recommendations according to Company policy.
Complete and submit required paperwork to ensure proper administration of established systems.
Process payroll for employees, maintaining confidentiality in this and all other personnel-related functions and procedures.
Check receipts to ensure merchandise has been paid for.
Develop a safe work environment through training staff in safe work practices, communicating periodic safety information, and performing safety inspections.
Secondary Duties
Perform related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
Certificate/License: Forklift certification within 90 days of hire/placement. California Driver’s License and proof of insurance are preferred but not required.
Experience: Two years of retail sales experience with at least six months of assistant manager experience; “as is” retail experience preferred.
Knowledge: Familiarity with basic bookkeeping and record-keeping tasks; familiarity with sales/merchandising techniques; familiarity with Company and Retail policies and procedures (on-the-job learning acceptable); familiarity with retail safety and security procedures and material handling techniques; familiarity with Goodwill Central Coast’s mission and policies; familiarity with typical computer programs and operation.
Equipment: Typical retail and material handling equipment; typical office equipment; vehicles.
Skills/Aptitudes/Temperaments: Ability to communicate effectively in English (basic Spanish desirable); ability to make quick, confident decisions; ability to manage multiple duties; strong sales presence and positive work ethic; accurate cash/check handling; ability to price merchandise; ability to operate forklifts; hand-eye coordination; ability to plan and direct store operations; ability to understand and apply policies; adherence to safety policies and reporting hazards properly.
Physical and Work Environment
Job setting: Work is performed in a large warehouse with exposure to dust and odors; typical noise level.
Physical demands: The work pace is steady with standing and walking; regular lifting up to 25 lbs, with occasional lifting up to 50 lbs; use of material handling equipment for heavier items.
Supplemental physical requirements: Standing, walking, bending, pushing/pulling, climbing, squatting/kneeling, reaching at or above and below shoulder level; occasional driving; long distance travel not required.
