Job Description The Payroll Supervisor at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center is responsible for overseeing and managing all payroll operations for the unit. This role ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll for a large, event-driven workforce, compliance with wage and hour laws, and coordination with HR and Finance teams. The Payroll Specialist will also provide leadership, training, and support to the HR Manager and employees regarding payroll policies and procedures.
Compensation The Hourly rate for this position is $30.00 to $32.00. If both numbers are the same, that is the amount that Aramark expects to offer. This is Aramark's good faith and reasonable estimate of the compensation for this position as of the time of posting. Job Responsibilities Payroll Administration Manage and guarantee accurate disbursement of payroll, benefits, and taxes in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Ensure timely processing of new hires, transfers, promotions, and terminations. Handle union payroll administration duties where applicable. Data Management & Reporting Oversee day-to-day payroll data collection and entry. Prepare and review weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year-end payroll reports. Reconcile payroll accounts and resolve discrepancies promptly. Compliance & Best Practices Maintain compliance with wage and hour laws, union agreements, and company policies. Assist with audits and ensure proper documentation for all payroll activities. Collaboration Communicate actively with Operations, HR, and Finance to review cross-departmental impacts. Provide guidance and training to schedule coordinators on payroll processes and systems when needed. Leadership Own the Payroll reconciliation process and ensure pay distributions are completed. Compose and administrate the Overtime report, Missed punches report, Paid time off calendar, Bereavement tracker, Non worked hours for unpaid time off, and Shift Differential report. Foster a culture of accuracy, accountability, and teamwork.
Qualifications Minimum 13 years of human resources experience, preferably in a high-volume, unionized environment. Knowledge of State Employment and labor laws Ability to effectively use scheduling software Strong knowledge of HRIS or payroll systems (KRONOS/ABI or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel proficiency required). Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information. Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills. Experience with union payroll and collective bargaining agreements preferred. Welcoming and helpful attitude toward all guests and other team members. Effective communication skills Work both independently and with a team Resolve payroll discrepancies and questions quickly on the spot Attention to detail and follow a multi-step processes Capability to remain focused and composed in a fast-paced environment and accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframes Availability to work nights and weekends as needed. This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
