JOB OVERVIEW

Job Title: Physician Anesthesiology (Cardiac)

Clinical Shift Schedule: Monday Friday, 6:30a 3:30p (9-hour shifts)

On-Call Shift Schedule: Weekdays 7p 7:30a; Weekends 7a 7a (24-hour shifts, optional 12-hour segments)

Call Type: In-House

Call Ratio: 1:2 (1-2 per week (backup MD available

Callback Rate: Variable; average one delivery and three hours of cases after 7p

PATIENT INFORMATION

Patient Demographics: Adults (90%) and Pediatrics (10%)

Patient Volume/Census: Approx. 2 labor epidurals/day, with variable surgical caseloads post 7 PM

Case Mix: General, Cardiac, OB, Neuro, Trauma, Ortho, and Burn

FACILITY INFORMATION

Trauma Level: Level II

EMR System: Cerner

Specialty Backup Available: Full specialty support including Cardiac, OB, and Pediatric Anesthesia

Support Staff Available: CRNAs (supervision model), 9 MDs onsite, nursing staff

Credentialing Timeline: 90 days

REQUIRED PROCEDURES

General Anesthesia

Cardiac Anesthesia (including Bypass, TEE and Open Heart Surgery)

OB and Pediatric Anesthesia

Ortho Blocks (basic, potential for future expansion)

Epidural and Spinal Procedures

Airway Management and Regional Blocks

JOB REQUIREMENTS

NPDB Self-Query: Required at presentation

Licenses: Active Pennsylvania license preferred; willing to accept IMLC candidates

Board: Board Certified or Board Eligible in Anesthesiology (within 3 years of residency)

DEA: Active DEA required

Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS required

Experience: Minimum 1 year of post-residency experience

Other Qualifications: Must have recent (within 2 years) cardiac anesthesia experience and be comfortable with full range of cases (General, Cardiac, OB, Peds)

TEE Certification: Not required but highly recommended

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide comprehensive anesthesia care across General, Cardiac, OB, and Pediatric cases

Supervise CRNAs (99% of time) with hands-on care as required

Participate in night and weekend call coverage

Perform procedures including cardiac bypass, TEE, and open-heart cases

Collaborate with surgical teams and hospital staff to ensure patient safety and quality care
