Maintenance Support Specialist
Under limited supervision, assists with warehouse inventory control and distribution for District maintenance departments. Procures tools, parts and materials. Assists in supervising assigned warehouse personnel. Reviews work of subordinates for completeness and accuracy. Reports to the Warehouse Operations Supervisor.
Orders and secures maintenance tools, parts, equipment and materials for warehouse inventory or by special request. Issues ordered supplies, special tools and personal protection equipment as requested. Picks up and delivers parts. Maintains accurate and up-to-date records as required. Assists in maintaining a clean, safe and orderly warehouse. Assists in supervising warehouse personnel. Supervisory duties include instructing; assigning, reviewing and planning work of others; maintaining standards; coordinating activities; allocating personnel; and acting on employee problems. Offers advice and assistance as needed. Ensures that customers receive the required level of operations and administrative support, and responds to customer requests as appropriate. Performs computer data entry to record and retrieve various information and to prepare orders. Receives, reviews, prepares and/or submits various records and reports, including purchase orders, revenue reports, computer printouts, memos, etc. Operates a variety of equipment, such as a computer, printer, copier, adding machine, two-way radio, forklift, fax machine, telephone, pallet jack, various small hand and power tools, etc. Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals, such as immediate supervisor, District personnel, subordinates, co-workers, vendors, etc.
Moves warehouse merchandise as needed. Performs related duties as required.
Requires a high school diploma supplemented by one to two years of experience in warehousing, purchasing or related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
