Emergency Medicine Physician

Location: Northwest Alaska

Job Type: 1099 Locum Tenens Contract

Date Range: January 6th - 20th, 2026
Compensation:

• $250.00 hourly rate
• $375.00 hourly call-back rate (paid for time worked over scheduled shifts)
• 2 paid travel days (1 arrival, 1 departure), paid at 4 hrs each day at the regular hourly rate

ER Shift Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 8:00pm
Responsibilities:

• Patient Volume: 5-10 patients per shift
• Staffing Mix: Fully staffed ED with a Hospitalist as backup, if needed
• In addition to emergency department coverage, the physician will provide support to village clinics and assist with patient transports to the hospital as needed

Position Requirements:

• Active Alaska State Physician (MD/DO) license
• Board Certification
• Active BLS, ACLS, PALS
• Active DEA registration
• Minimum 2 years of full-spectrum emergency experience
• Direct experience with medivac and patient care stabilization, including intubations, chest tubes, and complicated airways; must have strong suturing skills
• Experience working in rural or remote Alaska is highly preferred
• Must be culturally sensitive and willing to embrace the native community and their culture.
