Project Quality Manager 1 – Overview

Project Quality Manager 1 is responsible for implementing the QMS to fulfill the quality mission and support the successful execution of assigned projects as described in the Quality Management System (QMS) and/or the Nuclear Quality Assurance Program.
Key Responsibilities

Plans, develops, implements, monitors, evaluates, and maintains the project quality plan for assigned projects.
Supports one large EPC project and/or several services projects simultaneously.
Collaborates with other PQMs on projects executed by professionals in multiple locations.
Conducts quality assessments of project procedures and documents to identify, analyze, and document non-conforming processes or products; develops and implements corrective action by comparing activities against project quality program criteria.
Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates project supplier and subcontractor activities, quality systems and programs, products, and reports for adherence to the QMS and/or the NQAM.
Reviews purchase orders and associated documentation to ensure correct quality requirements are included prior to contract award.
Identifies and assesses improvement opportunities, and ensures a resolution is determined which will meet project and/or process quality requirements.
Assists project team members with quality processes such as CARs, PARs, lessons learned and deviations.
Participates in development and implementation of training on QMS for assigned project personnel.
Periodic travel will be required.
May involve additional work hours per week.
Acts in capacity of a "lead person" for issues related to quality.
Minimum Qualifications

4‑year degree in Engineering, Management, Quality, or Business.
Minimum 4–6 years of experience in a quality‑related role.
All applicants must be able to complete pre‑employment onboarding requirements (e.g., background check, drug screening, motor vehicle records search) in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Preferred Qualifications

Foundational knowledge of principles, practices, techniques, and theories of quality processes.
Experience with quality assurance and quality control programs and procedures.
Proficiency with computer applications.
Understanding of engineering, design, procurement, and construction principles.
Knowledge of project management principles, practices, and methods.
Familiarity with construction inspection, tests, and methods.
Aptitude for understanding instructions, reasoning, judgment, and problem‑solving with precision and attention to detail.
Ability to work with Black & Veatch staff, contractors, and client representatives.
Experience creating and conducting training sessions.
Work Environment / Physical Demands

Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days of employment based upon manager discretion, job performance and work assignments.
Salary Plan

Specialized Staff (SPC).
Job Grade

Grade 017.
