Full Summary
The Regional Yard Advisor supports the local Facility/Yard Leads, and Yard Supervisors in maintaining and supporting established operations, territory wide. This hands‑on position requires the ability to accurately manage multiple processes, garnering results by partnering with the local operations team, and working safely in various fast‑paced environments with a wide range of weather conditions year‑round. Duties include training of new employees in equipment operation and logistics, covering absences for various Facility/Yard employees as needed, with the ability to travel up to 80% of the time.
Logistics and Training
Maintains day‑to‑day logistics processes and documentation for receiving, staging, and shipping equipment and attachments in the yard.
Utilizes digital data inventory software, such as Microsoft Dynamics AX, CAT Inspect, Return to Ready app, to report on equipment availability, conditions, and location.
Steam cleans equipment ensuring cleaning area is safe, clean, and free of all debris.
Maintains consistent communication with all departments, and responds to all client, employee, vendor inquiries in a prompt, professional and friendly manner.
Yard Appearance, Maintenance, and Compliance
Serves as first point of contact for vendors on site to perform repairs, maintenance, inspections related to yard, grounds, and equipment.
Organizes appearance of the yard by properly staging and displaying equipment and attachments in designated areas to meet Caterpillar Retail Presence guidelines.
Completes all yard repairs and maintenance requests through Facilities Power App.
Completes all tasks associated with compliance of yard related federal/state inspections, certifications, and licenses.
Adheres to Caterpillar standards and Western States CSF 6 - environmental stewardship and contamination control best practices.
Administers procurement activities associated with yard maintenance activities, creating/reviewing, and authorizing purchase orders, obtaining price quotes and bids.
Knowledge Skills And Abilities
Ability to effectively train and collaborate with personnel on AX, equipment operations, Cat Inspect, Return to Ready app, AI phone, Microsoft Teams, and Procurement.
Proven customer service skills.
Knowledge and use of Microsoft computer products or other comparable systems required.
Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with others.
Consistent attendance and timeliness.
Ability to Travel 80% of the time and work overtime with little or no notice.
Education And Experience
Proof of high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
One‑year operating or certification in construction equipment, required.
One‑year training or supervisory experience required.
One year inventory and logistics, preferred.
One year facility/yard maintenance experience, preferred.
Valid driver’s license and excellent driving record required.
Must be able to communicate (speak, read, comprehend, write in English).
Physical Characteristics
Must be able to sit for long periods of time along with walking, standing, climbing stairs, reaching, pushing, pulling, leaning and twisting.
Must be able to meet all safety requirements for applicable safety policies.
