Job Summary
Develop and manage the implementation of plant maintenance plans to effectively execute all maintenance and maintenance‑related activities of the Cook Nuclear Plant within one or more disciplines to ensure safe, reliable, and cost‑effective plant operations. Disciplines include, but are not limited to, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, control, construction, reactor services, buildings and grounds, and WIN.
What You’ll Do:
Define maintenance objectives and organization to achieve corporate and plant performance objectives.
Manage programs to promote industrial safety practices and training.
Establish programs to ensure maintenance is performed according to applicable AEP nuclear generation group policies; plant license requirements; applicable manufacturer recommendations; industry codes and standards; plant procedures; and all applicable federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
Plan and direct benchmarking effort to identify best practices, highlight performance gaps, and identify areas of improvement and execution plans.
Control costs and increase work efficiency.
Provide effective maintenance plans and expertise to support plant refueling and forced outages.
Own the training program for the discipline‑specific department.
Support and participate in the Emergency Plan Organization and Corrective Action Program activities as assigned, and in accordance with procedures and policies applicable for the assigned role.
What We’re Looking For:
Education
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, related science, or equivalent in technical school.
Work Experience
Eight years of nuclear experience, with five as a Senior trade directly related to the specific discipline supervised (e.g., Mechanic, Electrician, Welder, I&C Technician) or a relevant combination of experience, education, and/or training which would include OPS SRO background.
Other Requirements
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
Broad knowledge of nuclear standards, policies, practices, and procedures.
Will perform walk‑downs in plant environment, which will include exposure to heat, cold, noise, and radiation.
Must establish and maintain a permanent residence within a 45‑minute safe drive time to the D.C. Cook Nuclear Power Plant.

Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
