You’ll help us build strong mutually beneficial relationships with a diverse range of suppliers, source the highest quality parts from around the globe and progress towards our sustainability goals, while ensuring optimal cost and on‑time delivery. You’ll lead the establishment of a robust exterior glass supply base so that we can continually produce the vehicles our customers want and value and will be a major contributor to Ford’s overall success. We are seeking a Supply Chain Commodity Buyer to lead for Ford's North American Exterior Glass commodity into the future. The evolution of both combustion and electric vehicles (EV) is driving the need for new/additional glass technologies. Looking for a self‑starter to take on the role as an expert in exterior glass, helping Ford source technologies to the customer needs of the combustion/EV market while maintaining strong relationships with the current supply base and ensuring that parts sourced from around the globe are of the highest quality, optimal cost and delivered on‑time.
What You’ll Do
Know the exterior glass commodity parts and understand cost drivers to deliver cost targets
Develop, maintain, and execute the glass Commodity Business Plan (CBP) strategy
Foster professional and healthy supplier partnerships
Lead, plan, develop, and implement supplier commercial negotiations
Work effectively with cross‑functional teams regionally and/or globally
Quote, negotiate and source suppliers for the purchase price of production parts, and tooling
Complete sourcing activities and recommend suppliers for new program lamps
Establish and implement sourcing strategy for exterior glass (i.e., windshields, backlites, roof glass, etc.)
Assist in the resolution of cost, quality, and delivery issues affecting the supply
Support GCT Buyers in both Service and Production and cross‑functional partners to develop strategies and implement solutions
Identify and implement cost reductions
Negotiate cost avoidances for suppliers requesting cost increases
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in business or engineering
5+ years of purchasing, procurement, and/or sourcing experience
Previous purchasing experience with glass, electrical, mechanical, or physical components
Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate and analyze data to enable operational decision‑making
Ability to conduct sourcing evaluations / business case studies and present clear recommendations to leadership
Ability to build network relationships with cross‑functional skill teams (PD, STA, finance, and OGC)
Project management skills and process discipline
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in business or engineering
Human Center Design Thinking
Salary
This position is a salary grade 8 and ranges from $99,100 to $166,200. Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.
