
Research Associate, The Robert M. Berne Cardiovascular Research Center

The Robert M. Berne Cardiovascular Research Center (CVRC) is seeking a Research Associate to investigate calcium signaling mechanisms and ion channels in systemic and pulmonary vasculature in the Sonkusare Laboratory. The laboratory employs state-of-the-art calcium imaging, superresolution imaging, patch-clamp electrophysiology, pressure myography, radiotelemetric blood pressure measurements, and cell-specific knockout mouse models. The overarching goal is to discover novel strategies for rescuing vascular dysfunction in cardiovascular disorders.
Responsibilities
Participate in a multiplicity of relevant lab projects and assist in writing study reports for study sponsors, papers, and grant applications.
Develop research programs as time permits and contribute to manuscript preparation and grant activities.
Attend and participate in laboratory meetings and CVRC-related seminars, and collaborate with graduate students, technicians, fellows and collaborators.
Minimum Qualifications
Doctoral degree at the time of hire. Ideal candidates will have a Ph.D. with a strong background in cardiovascular physiology.
Note: Research Associate positions are for candidates who have obtained their PhD within the past 3 years. Candidates who have received or will receive their terminal degree after May 2023 are eligible to apply.
Preferred Qualifications
Highly motivated to develop new research avenues; excellent written and oral communication skills.
Experience in vascular physiology, calcium imaging, ion channels, and cardiovascular disorders is preferred.
Physical Demands
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. Some travel to attend meetings and programs may be required.
Salary Range
Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
