Flexible schedule based on athletic event demands; includes weekdays, evenings, weekends and travel to away games and tournaments.

Job Summary
UK HealthCare Sports Medicine seeks a dedicated Athletic Trainer. Your primary focus will be daily medical coverage, injury prevention, assessment, rehabilitation, and return-to-play planning for athletes within the university’s athletics system. You will act as a liaison between players, coaches, and healthcare professionals to ensure the health, safety, and well‑being of athletes.

Manage medical documentation and injury tracking.

Coordinate with UK HealthCare physicians and rehabilitation specialists for athlete referrals.

Assist with emergency planning and response protocols at training and match facilities.

Promote education and awareness regarding injury prevention and performance optimization.

Support event coverage and medical operations for events and teams as needed.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
Strong understanding of sports injury prevention, evaluation, and rehabilitation techniques; excellent interpersonal and communication skills with athletes, coaches, and families; ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment; proficient in EMR documentation and basic administrative tasks; commitment to continuing education and evidence‑based clinical practice.

Qualifications

University degree in Athletic Training (Bachelor’s required; Master’s preferred).

NATA BOC Required.

Kentucky Board of Medical Licensure (KBML) Licensure or eligibility at time of hire.

Experience working with collegiate athletes.

Prior outreach/field‑based AT experience preferred.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Yes.
