Schedule: 6:30 am–6:00 pm, Monday–Friday (varies).
Float job: mileage expense paid. Will be floating to Columbia, Ellicott City, and Elkridge. Requires a clean driving record and reliable transportation.
Must be comfortable working alone and performing hard sticks.
Position Responsibilities
The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations. Responsibilities include:
Experience with blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging, and decontamination.
Updating patient information and recording maintenance data.
Collecting and storing specimens per established procedures.
Explaining the venipuncture (blood drawing) and other specimen collections (e.g., urine or fecal) clearly and courteously.
Demonstrating technique with straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
Understanding all physicians' orders.
Matching laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
Labeling, centrifuging, splitting, and freezing specimens as required.
Ensuring 100% correct test requisition labeling and matching.
Packaging specimens for transport and maintaining required temperature.
Following OSHA and DEP regulations.
Attending annual department trainings.
Answering telephone calls and reviewing laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.
Minimum Qualifications
Valid phlebotomy certification for the state of employment as required.
Minimum six months of work experience performing venipunctures in a fast‑paced lab or hospital setting.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
