About the Role
The Registered Radiologic Technologist performs radiology procedures per clinicians' orders and exam protocols, ensures patient cooperation, interprets data, follows safety standards and maintains equipment and records. The technologist works with the radiology care team, upholds HIPAA and infection control guidelines, and provides cross‑functional technical services to comprehensively attend to patient needs.

Responsibilities
The Registered Radiologic Technologist is responsible for performing radiology procedures in accordance with clinicians' orders, exam protocols and instructions. The technologist instructs patients regarding procedures to ensure cooperation and optimum test results, assesses and interprets data on patients, identifies patient requirements relative to their age‑specific needs and provides care as stipulated in the departmental policy. Radiology Technologists follow prescribed safety standards in operating equipment, maintain all equipment in appropriate operating condition, and maintain examination rooms and work areas, keeping all necessary items stocked. They monitor radiology procedures and exams and provide quality imaging. The technologist maintains accurate department records, reports and files as directed and follows HIPAA regulations and confidentiality. As a member of the radiology care team, the technologist works collaboratively with clinicians and other department personnel to assure safe and accurate delivery of care, follows aseptic procedures and infection control guidelines, and performs a range of technical services in a cross‑functional mode to comprehensively serve patient needs.

Requirements
Education
Graduate of an accredited radiologic technology program.

Licenses and Certifications

Licensed by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registration.

Licensed by the Texas Medical Board, Medical Radiation Therapist (MRT) registration.

CPR certification for Health Care Providers.

Experience

Basic knowledge of all radiologic equipment with proficiency in all X‑ray studies; experience a plus.

Effective oral and written communication skills.

Experience in CT a plus, willing to cross‑train.

Skills

Ability to operate all radiology equipment.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and multi‑task efficiently and effectively.

Knowledge of policies and procedures including standards for safety, attendance, punctuality, personal appearance, sterile and infection control guidelines.

Knowledge of the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and procedures to avoid exposure to infectious materials or equipment.

Ability to organize time and set priorities to accomplish workload.

Maintains an organized and clean work area to ensure general safety.

Participates in educational experiences designed to maintain competence.

Annually completes all required in‑service training.

Completes all required CE credits to maintain licensure.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, management, and peers.

Strong organizational and interpersonal skills including the ability to manage interactions with difficult people.

Excellent telephone skills.

Knowledge of cross‑sectional anatomy and physiology to sufficiently pinpoint area of imaging.

Ability to communicate effectively in the English language, in person, by phone and in writing.

Must be able to act calmly and effectively in busy, stressful or emergency situations.
