About The Position
The Riverside University Health Systems – Behavioral Health DPSS Assessment Team is recruiting for a Clinical Therapist II located in Riverside. This role provides mental health services to youth and non‑minor dependents through telehealth or in‑person sessions at an out‑stationed location. Field work may be required. Competitive candidates should have at least two years of licensed clinical experience conducting mental health assessments, individual therapy, and group therapy with youth, focusing on supporting the emotional and behavioral needs of clients in the community.

Under supervision, the Clinical Therapist II performs a range of therapeutic assignments related to mental or behavioral health services and psychiatric social work. This includes designing and implementing personalized treatment plans, individual and group psychotherapy, evaluations and investigations, and professional counseling as applicable under professional licensing laws, to meet the needs of consumers or families with mental or emotional disorders.

Qualifications

Licensed as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) by the California State Board of Behavioral Sciences.

Possession of a Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in clinical or counseling psychology, social work, marriage and family therapy, or a closely related behavioral science field.

Valid California driver’s license may be required.

Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate issued by the American Heart Association may be required.

Ability to perform bilingual Spanish testing for positions designated as bilingual.

Essential Duties

Interview consumers, relatives, and other involved persons to gather personal and social data for assessing mental or emotional disorders.

Develop service plans with consumers; evaluate psychological, economic, vocational, educational, physical, health, socialization, and housing needs.

Coordinate with psychiatrists, psychologists, and other program staff, as well as community agencies, to design and implement treatment or rehabilitation plans.

Assist consumers and families in understanding mental health conditions and treatment options.

Initiate and conduct individual, collateral, group, and family therapy sessions.

Maintain effective contact with local mental health resources, community members, schools, residential facilities, and other agencies.

Perform specialized tasks including involuntary hospitalization procedures (5150) and Tarasoff assessments.

Participate in mental health conferences and local area committees.

Prepare reports and correspondence.

Provide guidance to volunteers and staff; act as a casework consultant to other clinical therapists and departmental staff.

Provide clinical supervision to unlicensed clinicians when within scope of licensure.

Coordinate clinical decisions in response to operational demands.

Conduct clinical discussions regarding complex or difficult cases.

Respond to emergencies within licensure on the unit.

Coordinate flow of information and clinical data to ensure continuity in treatment or shift.

Serve as liaison with other sections, units, services, and agencies.
