Test Setup and Execution
Properly set-up, start, monitor, and complete engineering and production audit tests.
Check raw data for accuracy as data is collected.
Inform appropriate laboratory personnel of any problems with the test equipment or data collection.
Properly document the completion of the test(s).
Assist in training Jr. Laboratory Technicians in proper test set‑up and completion.
Communicate and resolve any difficulties with performing test as requested.
Report Data
Check the accuracy of the raw data.
Run standard report generator(s) appropriate to the completed test.
Check output of generator(s) for accuracy and completeness.
Ensure that the requirements of the test request have been fulfilled.
Store the reduced data in the appropriate network folder(s).
Deliver or notify requestor of completion of the test(s).
Make modifications to report generators for non‑standard tests.
Properly document the modifications to the generators.
Train and inform all affected laboratory personnel of the changes.
Develop software solutions for new standard tests including proper documentation, testing, training, and optimization.
Maintenance and Machine Repair
Execute preventive maintenance work orders in a timely manner.
Properly document the machinery logs with the preventive maintenance activity.
Assist in the repair of test equipment as required.
Properly document the machinery logs with the repair activities performed.
Adhere to housekeeping schedules.
Suggest and implement methods to improve housekeeping status.
Recommend changes to preventive maintenance schedules based upon maintenance and repair history.
Perform calibrations per documented procedures.
Develop calibration methods and documented procedures based upon sound technical principles, showing thorough knowledge of all concepts involved.
Troubleshoot improper machine behavior to determine root cause of problem.
Execute repairs based on root cause analysis.
Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for new or upgraded equipment, based upon sound engineering knowledge.
Develop Test Methods
Make minor modifications to existing test control programs, such as cycle count and block order.
Notify appropriate lab personnel of worn or broken test fixtures and components.
Suggest alternate test methods that would allow greater efficiency in test performance or accuracy of data.
Create test control programs from product operating parameters, understanding the limitations of the test equipment, and making equipment modifications when appropriate.
Suggest, develop, and implement efficiency and productivity improvements to laboratory test processes while preserving test integrity, accuracy, and repeatability.
Properly document and update laboratory and quality system documents as necessary.
Assist in the development of test fixtures, including print checking and concept design.
Mark‑up drawings for revisions based on sound engineering principles to improve fixture reliability.
Assist in control software development and enhancements including testing, coding, training and implementation.
Administrative
Properly document incoming test requests and update test schedules as necessary.
Generate internal documentation for replenishing laboratory supplies through current MRO system.
Generate documentation for external purchasing of laboratory inventory items, services, and non‑stocked repair and maintenance items.
Solicit vendor quotes and perform competitive analysis to ensure best benefit to cost ratio.
Follow‑up as necessary to ensure timely delivery of ordered items.
Generate work requests for electricians, tool makers, machinists, and millwrights as necessary to keep all laboratory equipment and facilities fully operational.
Coordinate shipping activities from the laboratory to vendors or other BorgWarner sites.
Prepare reports on laboratory activities for management review.
Participate in preparing and forecasting of expense and capital budgets.
New Equipment and Existing Equipment Modifications
Suggest improvement ideas for existing equipment.
Assist in the upgrade or modification of equipment as required.
Coordinate upgrade and improvement projects, ensuring timely completion and budget adherence.
Prepare concept sketches and/or engineering drawings for new equipment or upgrade projects.
Perform engineering calculations to verify proof of concept.
Other Qualifications
Proficient PC use including proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Experienced use of Microsoft Visual Basic or Visual Basic for Applications, or equivalent.
Proficient in High School Algebra or above.
Understanding of basic Physics.
Familiarity with drafting practices and conventions.
Proficient in the set‑up and use of sensors and data acquisition systems.
Pay Rate
Pay Rate: $28.07 - $38.95
