Automotive Air Condition Technician
The Automotive Air Conditioning Technician is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, diagnosis, repair, modification, assembly, and testing of complex automotive air conditioning and refrigeration systems. This position requires advanced technical expertise in refrigeration systems, electrical and electronic components, and diagnostic procedures to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient system performance.
Compensation & Benefits
Estimated starting salary range: $30-33/hr. Pay commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities
Perform inspection, cleaning, disassembly, repair, modification, assembly, and functional testing of complex air conditioning and refrigeration components and systems.
Service and maintain refrigeration compressors, electric motors, and associated control panels.
Troubleshoot and repair or replace defective components, including relays, thermocouples, valves, wiring, condenser coils, driers, thermostats, and solid‑state electronic devices.
Diagnose and resolve complex system malfunctions using approved diagnostic methods, tools, and technical documentation.
Evacuate, recharge, and service air conditioning systems with the correct refrigerant type and oil quantities in accordance with manufacturer specifications and environmental regulations.
Detect and repair refrigerant leaks utilizing electronic leak detection equipment, soldering, brazing, and component replacement techniques.
Conduct advanced electronic troubleshooting to identify and repair faulty components such as diodes, circuit boards, rectifiers, relays, RF filters, and capacitors.
Ensure all maintenance and repair activities comply with applicable safety standards, environmental regulations, and technical manuals.
Provide on‑the‑job training and technical guidance to personnel on installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, brazing, and soldering procedures.
Maintain accurate and complete maintenance, inspection, and repair records in accordance with organizational requirements.
Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience in automotive air conditioning and refrigeration systems.
Strong working knowledge of automotive air conditioning and refrigeration principles, refrigeration cycles, and electrical/electronic theory.
Ability to read and interpret schematics, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals related to refrigeration and electrical systems.
Proficiency in the use of vacuum and pressure testing equipment.
Skilled in the use of refrigeration hand tools, including swaging and flaring tools, leak detectors, tube benders, charging manifolds, and vacuum pumps.
Competent in the use of mechanical and electronic measuring instruments such as torque wrenches, micrometers, calipers, ohmmeters, and digital multimeters.
Demonstrated ability to perform brazing and soldering in accordance with industry standards.
Knowledge of the safe operation and handling of oxygen and acetylene welding equipment.
Thorough understanding of various refrigerants, including their properties, handling procedures, and proper application in servicing and rebuilding automotive air conditioning and refrigeration systems.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
Must pass pre‑employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal.
