Overview
Physical therapists (PTs) are health care professionals who diagnose and treat individuals of all ages who have medical problems or other health-related conditions that limit their abilities to move and perform functional activities in daily life. PTs examine each individual and develop a plan using treatment techniques to promote the ability to move, reduce pain, restore function, and prevent disability. PTs also work with individuals to prevent loss of mobility by developing fitness- and wellness-oriented programs for healthier and more active lifestyles.
Responsibilities
Assess patients, develop individualized treatment plans, and apply evidence-based physical therapy techniques to improve mobility and function.
Implement interventions to reduce pain, restore function, and prevent disability.
Educate patients and families about treatment plans, rehabilitation goals, and home exercise programs.
Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor of Science. Formal education from an accredited institution offering training in this specialty.
Licensure/Certification:
Licensure by the State of Alabama as a Physical Therapist.
