Position

Position Purpose:

Inspects, maintains, repairs and installs electrical systems, equipment and fixtures. Is fully qualified to perform the most complex functions and may lead the work of others.
Compensation

Pay range:

$38-41 per hour.
Primary Duties/Responsibilities

Performs preventative, predictive and corrective maintenance on mechanical, electromechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment according to supplier specifications.
Estimates time and material costs for assigned projects.
Dismantles equipment to gain access to and repairs defective parts using hand tools, power tools and precision measuring and testing devices.
May fabricate devices and assemblies from steel.
May weld, thread pipe and solder using gas and electric equipment.
Re-assembles and tests equipment to ensure safe and efficient operating conditions are restored.
Inspects and troubleshoots electrical systems, equipment and fixtures using testing devices and diagnoses basic operational problems. Takes corrective action and obtains necessary repair parts per procedure in the assigned area.
Prepares work orders manually or from a CMMS system and prepares work-related reports, procurement requisitions, charts, graphs and data submittal requirements in an accurate and timely manner.
Performs electrically related activities specified by work order and installs new or replacement electrical systems, equipment and fixtures.
Reports and documents results of inspections and work performed.
Performs facility maintenance and repair and may replace or install damaged glass, windows, doors, partitions, ceiling or floor tile, door locks, carpet, and/or paint.
May assist with maintaining parts, spares and maintenance inventory.
May assist in other areas of the plant as directed.
May assist with orienting or training new or less experienced Maintenance personnel.
Work Environment

Spends 100% of time in an operations environment.
Typically spends 25 – 35% of time exposed to outdoor and sometimes inclement weather.
Company service vehicles are used as required.
Travels 1 – 2 times per year for company-provided training.
May serve rotational 24-hour emergency on-call.
Possible hazards: exposure to fumes, dust, chemicals, noise, rotating machinery, high pressure, hot and cold temperatures, slippery surfaces, water and electrical hazards. Requires using chemicals and cleaning solvents to maintain and repair equipment.
Qualifications

Education/Experience/Background:
High school or GED with ability to read, write and comprehend English and perform basic mathematical calculations.
At least five years of experience in a related position in a similar environment with ability to comprehend complex specifications, wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, blueprints and manuals.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Proficiency in the care and use of site-specific PPE, including respirators and gas detectors.
Ability to perform tasks in an organized, accurate and timely manner.
Ability to install and repair electrical equipment including pumps, blowers, compressors and other electrically driven equipment.
Ability to diagnose problems, troubleshoot electrical equipment and take corrective action within policy and procedure.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to operate Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
Ability to work in a team environment and take on additional responsibilities as needed.
Required Certifications/Licenses/Training/Pay-rate

Class II High Voltage Unrestricted Electrical Contractor License required.
Minimum water/wastewater license as required by regulatory agencies at site.
Must possess a valid driver’s license; commercial license and heavy equipment operator license desirable.
Physical Requirements

Physical demands: bending, walking, standing and sitting with occasional lifting up to 50 pounds and ability to work at heights; climbing ladders and catwalks.
Requires close visual and hearing observation to detect non-conformance and equipment malfunction.
Frequent use of hands and arms; ability to work with tools; ability to reach and maneuver.
Work may occur in confined spaces; may require work up to 50 feet above ground.
