Registered Nurse (RN) - Vascular Access - Mon - Fri / 5:30AM - 2:00PM

Position Summary
Preop at ORMC is a fast‑paced environment where you are involved in the care of and safe preparation of patients going to surgery. You will work closely with surgical and anesthesia teams to prep patients for a wide variety of surgical procedures. Administers patient care in a hospital or inpatient/observation setting where an acute care patient receives active treatment for an injury, episode of illness, a medical condition, or post intervention with assessment.

Schedule
Monday – Friday, 5:30 AM – 2:00 PM. No weekends, no on‑call, no holidays.

Responsibilities

Demonstrate critical knowledge, skills, and judgement to care for patients requiring complex assessment and therapies, high intensity interventions, and high‑level continuous nursing vigilance.

Utilize information and assessment data to anticipate and respond with confidence and adapt to rapidly changing patient conditions.

Identify and prioritize information to take immediate and decisive evidence‑based, patient‑focused action.

Monitor and adjust specialized equipment used on patients, and interpret and record electronic displays such as intracranial pressures, central venous pressures, pulmonary artery pressures, and cardiac rhythms from cardiac monitors, respirators, ventilators, and oxygen pumps.

Respond to life‑saving situations based on nursing standards and protocol.

Observe, monitor, and assess patients’ condition, recognize and interpret serious situations, and call a physician or take pre‑planned emergency measures when a physician is not immediately available.

Assess patients’ needs and develop/revise an individualized plan of care based on patients’ needs and responses; evaluate progress toward attaining expected outcomes.

Respect diversity by building respectful relationships with all team members and patients.

Function as a patient and family advocate.

Demonstrate advanced knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served on the assigned unit/department.

Serve as a preceptor, charge nurse, unit educator, and/or nurse clinician.

Communicate and collaborate with medical staff and interdisciplinary teams to effectively plan and manage the unit/department.

Serve as a role model for staff and support the hospital and nursing department’s goals and strategies.

Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development across the lifespan, assess data reflective of patients’ status, and interpret the necessary information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to age‑specific needs.

Qualifications
Education & Training

Graduate of an approved school of nursing.

Meet all mandatory, developmental, and performance competency requirements for Orlando Health and the unit/department.

Licensure & Certification

Maintain current State of Florida RN license or a valid eNLC multistate RN license.

Maintain current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.

ACLS is required for certain areas.

Experience

Minimum of one (1) year of in‑hospital vascular or PICC RN experience required.
