Position Summary
The Registered Nurse is a licensed professional who provides patient care in accordance with the standards, policies, and practices of Enloe Medical Center. The RN-Labor & Delivery provides care to women during the labor and delivery process, as well as provides couplet care to both mothers and babies. The Registered Nurse prioritizes patient needs, coordinates patient care, and collaborates with other members of the patient care team to provide care in accordance with the medical plan of care.
Minimum Qualifications
One-year acute nursing experience
Completion of Rural Nursing Preceptorship or equivalent in Perinatal setting
Completion of one-year experience in a Nursing Assistant or Student Extern in a Perinatal setting
Desired Qualifications
One-year clinical experience in a Labor & Delivery Unit
Licenses / Certifications
Current licensure with the California Board of Registered Nursing
Current CPR recognition
ACLS within 6 months of hire
NRP within 1 month of hire
Fetal Monitoring Competence: all tracked by dept
Completion of AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring (next available class from hire date)
Completion of AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring within 2 years of hire
Evidence of continued Fetal Monitoring Competence every two years (as determined by Nurse Manager)
Specific to Relief Charge Nurse
Must obtain PALS within 6 months of relief charge role (dept tracks)
Desired
Bachelor of Science in Nursing
NRP certification upon hire
ACLS certification upon hire
Basic Fetal Monitoring upon hire
National Certification in Inpatient Obstetrics (NCC)
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
Must demonstrate technical competence, professional clinical judgment, communication skills and sensitivity for the patient and family in crisis. Must have the ability to perform the essential functions of the job.
