Description
The Hofstra Northwell School of Nursing and Physician Assistant Studies invites applications for an adjunct faculty position effective Spring 2025. Candidates will teach one or two courses per semester at the Bachelor of Science, Master of Science, or Doctor of Nursing Practice levels. The role involves developing innovative curricula, engaging in community service, participating in professional development, and supporting diversity and inclusion initiatives.
Responsibilities
Provide instruction to Bachelor of Science, Master of Science, and Doctor of Nursing Practice students in the Department of Nursing.
Demonstrate competence in teaching and create innovative curricula using experiential pedagogies and adult learning theory.
Engage in community service beyond faculty requirements.
Participate in lifelong learning through professional and faculty development activities.
Show progressive participation and leadership in national/international professional organizations.
Maintain clinical/professional experience in accreditation of undergraduate and graduate-level programs (e.g., CCNE or AC‑PE).
Support efforts to create a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment for faculty, staff, and students.
Qualifications
Earned Master of Science or Doctorate in nursing, cardiovascular sciences, perfusion medicine, pharmacy, or closely related field at appointment; doctorate required for Adjunct Assistant Professor or higher.
Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience.
Peer‑reviewed national/international presentations or publications preferred.
Excellent communication, organizational, teaching, leadership, and time‑management skills.
Outstanding computer skills, including proficiency in Canvas, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Demonstrated commitment to promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion in an educational environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Minimum of 2 years of experience teaching at the collegiate level.
Experience providing instruction in pharmacology, nursing research, or experiential learning pedagogies.
Board certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), Adult‑Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP), Psychiatric‑Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP), or Certified Clinical Perfusionist (CCP).
