Job Purpose
The Roads Chargehand will be responsible for supervising a team that carries out works to maintain the road network.

Location & Duration
West Tullos Depot. Permanent, full‑time.

PVG Membership
From 1 April 2023, roles requiring a PVG membership will require the candidate to cover the cost of the membership. This applies to positions with a full‑time equivalent salary of £30,000 and above. The Council will initially cover the PVG membership cost (either £18 for existing members or £59 for non‑members) and deduct it from the employee’s first full monthly salary payment.

Minimum Qualifications

Full driving licence.

Class C driving licence with CPC certificate.

Appropriate plant operator certificate.

Demonstrable specialist skill.

Key Skills and Experience

Experience supervising and coordinating resources.

Ability to work on own initiative within a squad.

Logical and analytical approach to problem solving.

Support management of contracts and associated contractors.

Work independently and as part of a team.

Effective communication skills.

Ability to manage real‑time workloads while delivering on key objectives.

Ability to carry out supervision.

Ability to monitor and implement Health and Safety requirements.
