Summary
The Department of Higher Education & Learning Technologies at East Texas A&M University, a student‑ready, Doctoral University classified as R2: High Research Activity by the Carnegie Classification, invites applications for a tenured or tenured track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor (tenure‑track), Associate Professor (tenured), or Professor (tenured). This is a 9‑month appointment, to begin in Fall 2026 or Spring 2027.

Duties & Responsibilities

Teach online.

Implement a significant, ongoing program of focused scholarly research and publications, including collaborative efforts with appropriate content area faculty.

Provide service and leadership to national and regional professional organizations, the university, college, and department.

Chair and serve on master’s and doctoral student committees.

Advise masters and doctoral students.

Applicants will be expected to have potential for or demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service.

Minimum Requirements
For consideration as an

assistant professor , the candidate must (minimum qualifications):

hold an earned doctorate in the field or study of Higher Education, Adult & Continuing Education, or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution in the United States;

have a beginning record of scholarly research productivity;

have demonstrated teaching ability and experience at the graduate level;

have the potential to direct doctoral dissertations;

demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching, service, and intellectual contributions to the discipline (research).

For consideration as an

associate professor , the candidate must (minimum qualifications):

hold an earned doctorate in the field or study of Higher Education, Adult & Continuing Education, or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution in the United States;

have a substantial record of scholarly research productivity;

have demonstrated teaching ability and experience at the graduate level;

have experience directing doctoral dissertations;

demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching, service, and intellectual contributions to the discipline (research);

have demonstrated ability to collaborate with colleagues;

be proficient in the English language both orally and in writing;

demonstrate expertise in online delivery of instruction;

demonstrate experience in curriculum and program development;

have excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills;

Demonstrate the ability to collaborate effectively with all members of the university community and a commitment to meet the professional needs of the region’s varied populations;

Requires the ability to multi‑task and work cooperatively with others.

For consideration as a

full professor , the candidate must, in addition to all of the above:

have international recognition as a proven scholar or researcher in the field of higher education administration, adult and continuing education, or a closely related field;

have a proven track record of substantial grantsmanship and external funding;

have graduated a substantial number of doctoral students who have progressed to successful careers in the field and profession of higher education;

Have demonstrated success as an excellent teacher and advisor to graduate students;

Established experiences with research, teaching, service, and/or administration in higher education;

Experience and/or knowledge in one of the following: higher education organizational theory, leadership, governance, student affairs, academic affairs, higher education finance, higher education law, history of higher education;

Proven expertise in research methodologies, in the qualitative and quantitative traditions;

Demonstrated commitment to the use of technology in instruction, including online delivery of instruction;

Evidence of effective interaction with students, faculty, administration, regional and national constituents;

Active participation in professional organizations (ASHE, ACPA, NASPA, AIR, AERA, AACC).
