Overview
We are seeking an experienced
Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
to support students with autism in a
specialized, high-needs school setting
in the Miami area. This role focuses on helping students develop
functional life skills, sensory regulation, and independence
through structured, individualized therapy services. The COTA will work under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist and collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team to support student success.
Responsibilities
Provide direct occupational therapy services aligned with IEP goals
Implement treatment plans developed by the supervising Occupational Therapist
Support students with sensory processing, fine motor, and daily living skills
Assist in managing behaviors and promoting student engagement in a structured environment
Collaborate with teachers, behavior staff, and related service providers
Document therapy sessions, progress, and student outcomes
Participate in team meetings and contribute to student progress discussions
Qualifications
Associate’s Degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
Active Florida COTA license required
NBCOT certification required
Minimum 1 year of pediatric experience (school-based or clinic setting required)
Experience working with students with autism or high-needs populations strongly preferred
Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills
