
Patient Care Tech - Med Surg

Med A is seeking an energetic medical‑surgical patient care tech to join our dynamic team at Piedmont Athens. We provide high quality, evidence‑based care on a fast‑paced 30‑bed Med‑Surg unit coordinated with the entire medical team to deliver direct care to adult and geriatric patients with a variety of illnesses and comorbidities, including overflow from specialty units such as Surgery, Pulmonary, Neuroscience, Oncology, and Orthopedics. Support staff include an IV team, home med nurse, and lift team.

Responsibilities
The Patient Care Tech, under the supervision of licensed clinical staff, provides care to patients from birth through the lifecycle, demonstrating competency with treatments, procedures, and equipment appropriate to the clinical setting and hospital policy.
Patient ratios are determined by various factors, including volume and acuity of patient needs. Extenuating circumstances may determine a need for lower or higher ratios.
Qualifications
Education
H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) – Preferred
Work Experience
No experience required
1 year of patient care experience – Preferred
Licenses and Certifications
BCLS – Basic Life Support Upon Hire Required
CNA – Certified Nursing Assistant – Preferred
Certification from a Patient Care Technician program – Preferred
