East Campus Hospital: U1500 Acute Rehab - Full-Time, Night Shift

Job Summary
The Patient Care Assistant (PCA) works under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse (RN) in a fast‑paced inpatient department licensed under Loma Linda University Medical Center (LLUMC). The PCA provides direct and indirect age‑specific, developmentally appropriate patient care, seeks information and clarification of duties as needed, and functions within the scope of practice for unlicensed assistive personnel. The role requires flexibility, professionalism, and a commitment to high‑performance teamwork, customer service excellence, and patient, family satisfaction. The PCA also assists with other duties as needed and contributes to a caring, culturally diverse work environment.

Education and Experience

Successful completion of an approved Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program, a Medical Assisting (MA) program, or the School of Nursing Fundamentals.

Minimum six months nursing assistant or MA experience preferred.

Knowledge and Skills

Competencies in fundamentals of patient care and understanding of the scope of practice for unlicensed healthcare team members.

Strong customer service skills and effective interpersonal communication in English (Spanish preferred).

Proficiency in computer, printer, and electronic medical record software such as Word, Outlook, and related applications.

Ability to perform basic non‑licensed patient care activities, follow instructions, and communicate positively and professionally.

Adherence to policies, calmness under pressure, collaboration, acceptance of direction, critical thinking, and good judgment.

Independent work with minimal supervision, basic math proficiency, written communication, and the ability to manage multiple assignments, organize workload, and solve problems.

Attention to detail, ability to distinguish colors, smells, and sounds, and adequate vision for reading computer screens and medical records.

Licensures and Certifications

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association is required.
