Overview
ERP International is seeking full‑time Biomedical Equipment Technicians (BMET) – Level 1 to support Robley Rex VA Medical Center in Louisville, KY.
Responsibilities
Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm.
Position Summary: The support services shall provide interim Biomedical Engineering services to successfully ensure on‑time or timely completion of work, including technology assessment, implementation and configuration of medical systems, technology sustainment, and incoming inspections at the new medical center.
Job Specific Details and Tasks:
Test and calibrate components using manufacturers' manuals and troubleshooting techniques, hand tools, power tools, and measuring devices.
Keep records of maintenance, repair, and required updates of equipment.
Inspect and test malfunctioning medical and related equipment following manufacturers' specifications, using test and analysis instruments.
Disassemble malfunctioning equipment and remove, repair and replace defective parts such as motors, transformers, and circuit boards.
Perform preventive maintenance or service such as cleaning, lubricating and adjusting equipment in accordance with OEM specifications.
Test, evaluate, and classify excess or in‑use medical equipment and determine serviceability, condition, and disposition in accordance with regulations.
Examine medical equipment and facility's structural environment and check for proper use of equipment to protect patients and staff from electrical or mechanical hazards; ensure compliance with safety regulations and policies.
Study technical manuals and attend training sessions provided by equipment manufacturers to maintain current knowledge.
Qualifications
Education: Minimum of an Associate’s Degree in applied science or equivalent military training.
Experience: At least one year performing medical equipment maintenance in a hospital or healthcare setting.
Mandatory Knowledge and Skills:
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Demonstrated competency to perform operational verification procedures, planned maintenance, and repair service on various medical equipment.
Experience working in or with the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) or understanding of VISN, VA medical center, and Biomedical Engineering department operations.
Understanding of regulatory agencies’ requirements, industry regulatory requirements, and International Standard Organization standards.
Familiarity with the setup and application of test equipment.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical literature, schematics, and drawings.
Security: Must possess the ability to pass a Government background check/security clearance.
