School Nutrition Assistant
Purpose of the position: To prepare and serve food in accordance with government rules and regulations.
Essential Job Functions
Strategic Goal Area I—Student Achievement
Serves students healthy meals on a daily basis in order to support student learning.
Strategic Goal Area II—Stakeholder Engagement and Loyalty
Works under the direction of the School Nutrition Manager/Assistant Manager.
Demonstrates the ability to work with the school community.
Strategic Goal Area III—Efficient and Effective Operational Processes
Practices proper procedures in food preparation, use and care of equipment, and personal habits to assure that sanitation standards are met.
Follows standards of safety in preparing, storing, and serving food.
Participates in implementing promotions related to the program.
Strategic Goal Area IV—Continuous System and School Improvement
Attends job-related training classes and workshops (All employees must complete SL1 or O.N.E. class).
Other Expectations
Adhere to the Code of Ethics for Educators in Georgia.
Demonstrate prompt and regular attendance/timeliness.
Complete assignments and requirements on time and in compliance with directions.
Maintain accurate, complete, and appropriate records.
Maintain confidentiality of information and records for students and staff.
Job Standards (Minimum qualifications needed to perform essential job functions)
Ninth grade education or HSE.
Able to read, write, and follow instructions.
Able to lift 30 pound loads and stand on hard floor surfaces 6–7 hours per day.
Practice good personal hygiene.

Individual Schools.
Equipment (Machines, Devices, Tools, etc., used in job performance)
Cash register, Institutional Kitchen Equipment.
Critical Skills/Expertise (Needed for this job specifically)
Ability to measure and weigh ingredients.
Ability to follow directions both orally and written.
Ability to compute basic math.
Ability to work well with people.
