Summary
PGY1 residency program designed to build upon a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) education. Residents participate in learning experiences such as patient care in various settings, a clinical research project, precepting pharmacy students and interns, and educating other disciplines. Upon completion, pharmacy residents will be prepared for clinical pharmacy practice and patient care, responsible for optimizing patient care by promoting rational, safe, and cost‑effective drug therapy. Residents must demonstrate proof of education and hold a State Pharmacy License at the start of the program.
Responsibilities
Participates in patient care rounds as appropriate.
Contributes to and participates in the department's medication use evaluation plan, including but not limited to Clinical Management Initiatives (CMI).
Reviews current medical/pharmacy literature regularly for recent developments in disease state therapeutics as well as new product development.
Provides health professionals with drug information and/or references.
Qualifications
Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) required.
Eligible for pharmacist licensure in Massachusetts (granted upon holding a State Pharmacy License).
Must be matched via the National Matching Service.
Experience
Pharmacy experience: 0‑1 year preferred.
Experience with computer word processing: 1‑2 years required.
Some experience with spreadsheets or databases and other computer software: 1‑2 years preferred.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
Knowledge of pharmacy information systems, automated dispensing technology, and personal computers.
Strong interpersonal skills.
Strong communication skills.
