Patient Navigator (RN)

Now hiring a Registered Nurse to serve as a Patient Navigator at Michigan Institute of Urology in Troy, MI, assisting bladder cancer patients throughout their treatment journey.
Position Details

Full‑time, Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Pay based on experience
No nights, weekends, or on‑call shifts

Key Responsibilities

Guide patients and families through their healthcare experience and provide compassionate, patient‑centered care
Educate patients on diagnoses and treatment options
Follow patients throughout the care path to ensure all treatment options are explored
Review and update patient history and medical records
Collaborate with surgical scheduling and internal/external care teams
Identify and address workflow or patient care issues
Connect patients and families with support services and resources
Maintain professional and technical knowledge through ongoing education
Perform other duties as assigned
Document patient care services in the electronic medical record
Resolve patient problems and needs through team strategies
Track and document metrics and outcomes
Identify support groups and coordinate scheduling
Provide age‑ and culturally appropriate information and resources
Arrange transportation, translation, and other services
Assist patients with insurance claims and payment plans
Ensure patients are informed about their legal rights
Qualifications

RN or LPN license required
Experience in urology, oncology, or a similar specialty‑focused environment required
Experience with bladder cancer patients preferred
IV certification preferred
Strong knowledge of medical terminology, EMR systems, and insurance coding
Ability to work independently while maintaining compassionate care and HIPAA confidentiality
Good communication skills and customer service skills
Basic computer knowledge, including Microsoft Office and EMR systems
Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality
Education & Experience

High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred
At least one year in a medical office setting
Minimum two years of customer service experience
