SUMMARY OF POSITION

Penn State Health Children’s Hospital is seeking a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner / Critical Care Intensivist to join our outstanding Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine team in our Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) — the only Level IV NICU in central Pennsylvania.
The successful candidate will be an integral member of a highly skilled, multidisciplinary team that includes 20 Advance Practice Clinicians, 6 Neonatal Fellows, 13 Neonatal Attending’s, rotating Pediatric Residents, Respiratory Therapists, Dieticians, Pharmacists, Care Coordinators, Social Workers, and other dedicated professionals.
Our Level 4 NICU in central Pennsylvania serves a diverse population that includes extremely premature infants, as well as those with general and specialized surgical disorders, multiple anomalies including genetic disorders, complex congenital heart disease, hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy requiring therapeutic hypothermia, and conditions requiring ECMO or advanced surgical interventions.
In this role, the Nurse Practitioner will provide comprehensive, evidence-based care for critically ill neonates, leveraging advanced clinical judgment, education, and collaboration to optimize outcomes, reduce length of stay, and support family-centered care. A wide degree of autonomy is expected, with the opportunity to develop and grow under expert mentorship.
The Nurse Practitioner will be credentialed to practice independently within the scope of the collaborative agreement and will work closely with attending neonatologists, fellows, residents, and other healthcare providers to deliver exceptional neonatal care. Responsibilities also include educating and mentoring nurses, students, and residents, as well as participating in 24/7 in-house coverage to ensure seamless, continuous care for our most vulnerable patients.

Currently licensed to practice as a CRNP by Pennsylvania Board of Nurse Examiners required.
National certification as an advanced practice nurse required.
Must possess knowledge of appropriate critical care, to include advanced cardiac life support and basic cardiopulmonary life support certification.
