Overview

Job Description : A Medical Assistant has accountability for providing care to patients in an ambulatory clinic setting. This will involve caring for patients with acute and chronic needs. A Medical Assistant will be responsible for communicating clearly with patients seeking care through different modalities including telephone and in-person interactions.
Shift Details

40 hours/week, Full Time. Clinic hours are Monday- Friday 7:00am-5:00pm. Schedule will be Monday- Friday 7:30am-3:30pm.

Role

As a Medical Assistant at Intermountain Health, provide patient care under the direction of the clinician, gathering information relative to the patient’s visit and condition.
Effective communication with patients seeking care through different modalities including telephone and in-person interactions.
Team collaboration: work with cross-functional teams to collaborate on patient care; attention to detail and follow-through are key components in helping to provide the care that is needed.
Minimum Qualifications

One of the following: completion of a Medical Assistant program OR at least one year of Medical Assistant work experience OR current active and in good standing RN/LPN license to practice nursing in the state of Utah
Current Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers. Must be obtained prior to start date
Demonstrated basic computer skills involving word processing and data entry
Professional manner and strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively with patients and fellow caregivers to deliver the highest level of customer/patient satisfaction
Ability to protect privacy, confidentiality, and Protected Health Information (PHI) of patients, members, and caregivers
Utah Only: If certified with less than one year of MA experience, caregivers may attend a year-long MA residency program
Preferred Qualifications

Experience in an outpatient clinic or other healthcare setting
Computer literacy in using electronic medical records (EMR) systems and other relevant software
Current national MA certification from one of the following: RMA (AMT), NCMA, CCMA, CMA (AAMA)
Physical Requirements

Ongoing need to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies
Frequent verbal communication with patients, providers, and visitors; ability to hear and understand information quickly, especially during emergencies
Manual dexterity for handling equipment and computing/documentation tasks
Ability to lift and transfer patients; ability to retrieve and carry supplies and equipment
Ability to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining supplies; may push/pull gurneys and heavy equipment; navigate crowded rooms
May stand for extended periods
For roles requiring driving: may need to drive a vehicle and read signs and signals
