Summary
Orlando VA Healthcare System’s Radiology Service is seeking an experienced and dynamic Radiologist. Ideal applicants want to contribute to the achievement of quality care standards and to the growth and development of a VA academic hospital program.

Qualifications

United States Citizenship: Non‑citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.

English language proficiency, both spoken and written, meeting VA Handbook 5005 – Part II.

Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree in medicine or osteopathic medicine from a school approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in any U.S. state, territory, commonwealth, or the District of Columbia.

Completion of residency training approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification. Approved residency paths include ACGME‑accredited, AOA‑accredited, or non‑U.S. residencies followed by a minimum of five years of verified practice in the United States.

Residency residents who meet the above requirements may be appointed as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs) on an intermittent or fee‑basis, with appropriate supervision.

Preferred – Board Certified Radiologist specializing in Nuclear Medicine. (Reference: https://www.va.gov/ohrm/QualificationStandards/)

Responsibilities

Develop and implement procedures and protocols for ordering, image acquisition, quality, and safety within the nuclear medicine service.

Interpret general nuclear medicine studies, cardiac studies, and PET/CT studies, as well as limited non‑imaging applications such as thyroid probe uptake measurements.

Administer therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals including I‑131 sodium iodide, Ra‑223 dichloride, and Y‑90 microspheres.

Take responsibility for all aspects of the division’s compliance with NRC regulations in coordination with the radiation safety officer and the supervisor of nuclear medicine.

Maintain experience in diagnostic radiology, including body imaging on CT, MR, and US platforms.

Participate in after‑hours call rotations from home and attend multidisciplinary conferences with Oncology, Pulmonology, ENT, Rheumatology, and Hepatology.

Work schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
