TNAA TotalMed RN is seeking a travel nurse RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position in Kankakee, Illinois.

We're looking for Progressive Care Unit RNs for an immediate travel nurse opening in Kankakee, IL. The right RN should have 1-2 years of recent acute care experience. As a PCU Travel Nurse, you will care for patients who require close monitoring and frequent assessment but aren’t unstable enough to need ICU care. PCs are a step-down unit where nurses monitor cardiac and other vital information, detect changes, and intervene in life‑threatening or emergency situations. Close observation is necessary as many PCU patients receive complex medications, sometimes via IV that may need adjustment.
As a PCU Travel Nurse, you should be prepared to perform the following tasks:
Provide basic bedside care; stabilize critical cardiac patients.
Change dressings, insert catheters and start IVs.
Prepare, administer and record prescribed medication, reporting any adverse reactions to treatment.
Monitor and adjust specialized equipment used on patients, interpret and record electronic displays.
Initiate corrective action whenever monitoring equipment shows adverse symptomatology.
Physical requirements: PCU Travel Nurses should be able to stand and walk for long periods, bend, lean and stoop without difficulty, lift 20 pounds and sometimes up to 50 pounds. Stress management and ability to relate to people of all ages and backgrounds are essential in the fast‑paced environment.
Requirements:
ACLS, BLS, 1 Year. Additional certifications may be required before beginning an assignment.
