Lead Admissions Clinician

Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Admissions Director, the Lead Admissions Clinician provides supervision to admissions department personnel. Provides telephonic and in-person risk assessment and crisis intervention, initial contact with referral sources and potential patients, coordinates the referral and intake process, determines appropriate level of care, facilitates the admission process and maintains communication with referral sources, families, patients and unit staff. Promotes patient care consistent with the philosophy and objectives of Cedar Ridge. Performs duties in accordance with the facility's mission, values, policies and behavioral standards. Provides department coverage during day, evening and weekend hours as scheduled with flexibility to ensure department services as needed.

Qualifications

Prior intake, assessment, admission and crisis intervention experience with a psychiatric mental health population (preferred in an inpatient setting)

Master’s degree in counseling, psychology or social work (required)

Current certification or licensure by the State of Oklahoma (LCSW, LPC, LMFT) or applying for supervision/under supervision (preferred)

One or two years of management experience (preferred)

Working knowledge of hospital admissions functions, leadership skills, crisis intervention and risk assessment, psychiatric diagnoses symptomology, basic chemical dependency, age-specific growth and development and crisis and behavior management

Must be at least 21 years of age

Successfully complete a drug test

Successfully pass a national background check

Physical agility to manage patients

Ability to push, pull and lift up to 40 pounds

Strong computer skills

Excellent communication skills

Strong leadership skills

Exposure to psychiatric patients who may exhibit violent/aggressive behavior

Potential for exposure to communicable diseases, blood/body fluids and other hazardous waste
